The Precision Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Difference

Physical Therapy is vital to achieving a full recovery following surgery or injury. Our bodies—the muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments—are made TO MOVE. Working to create a strong structure to support the skeleton increases the possibility of a full recovery and reduces the probability of future injury.  Our Physical Therapy team works on increasing core strength, improving flexibility, correcting muscle imbalances, increasing spinal stability, and improving coordination.  Whether your goal is to run in a marathon or simply walk up a flight of stairs, our experienced rehab team is ready to help you achieve your health goals. We are so strongly committed to delivering excellence in Physical Therapy care, we put it in our name!

Pre & Post Surgical Rehabilitation

Physical Therapy is so vital to the success of a hip replacement operation that it begins before the patient leaves the hospital. In fact, most joint replacement surgeries depend on a systematic Physical Therapy program for the patient to make a full recovery. Being prepared before surgery, with a well-founded Physical Therapy program in place, will also lead to a greater success rate following the procedure. Our team at Precision Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine will work together with your surgeon to create a treatment program to manage both pre-surgery conditioning and post-surgery rehabilitation. Some of the procedures that depend on a comprehensive Physical Therapy strategy include:

  • Knee Replacement Surgery
  • Rotator Cuff Surgery
  • Hip Replacement Surgery
  • Ankle Surgery
  • Ligament Reconstructive Surgery
  • Cartilage Restorative Surgery
  • Nerve Decompression
  • Spinal Surgery

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain has a multitude of causes. Perhaps you were involved in an automobile accident years ago and never properly treated for your injuries. Or maybe you have degenerative conditions in your joints, bones, or tissue. Many people suffer with long lasting, painful conditions or injuries that just won’t go away. Often these chronic pain issues affect our ability to live active, happy lives. Living with chronic pain is unnecessary. If you have any of the following, or your own set of pain issues, visit us today for a holistic evaluation:

  • Chronic Joint Pain
  • Soft Tissue Restrictions
  • Muscle Imbalance
  • Postural Dysfunction
  • Muscle Weakness
  • Overuse Injuries

Geriatric Rehabilitation

Few goals are as worthy and gratifying as staying healthy and active as we age. Nobody wants to recognize themselves in the “I’ve fallen and can’t get up” ad. Practicing preventative care is becoming an essential component to a healthy lifestyle.  Rehabilitation helps our elderly patients improve their function, flexibility, and strength so that they can maintain functional independence and remain active. Preventative, Geriatric Rehabilitation can have a positive impact on the following:

  • Balance Disorders
  • Falling Prevention
  • Muscle Weakness
  • Chronic Joint Pain
  • Loss of Function

Acute Injury

Whether you have strained your shoulder pulling that 30-pound handbag out of the back seat…from the front seat, sprained your ankle coming down the escalator, or—perish the thought—been involved in a car accident, our Physical Therapy team works closely with our medical experts to assess your acute musculoskeletal injuries and design the appropriate plan of care. Examples of acute injuries include:

  • Sprains
  • Strains
  • Sports injuries
  • Whiplash
  • Auto Injuries
  • Work Injuries

Injury Prevention

If you’ve ever been injured, you know you don’t want to travel down that road again. And you don’t have to. Physical Therapy is not just for treating injuries. Physical Therapy, patient education, as well as an individualized exercise program can help increase athletic performance and decrease unnecessary injuries by identifying and strengthening muscle weaknesses and increasing mobility and flexibility.  Don’t wait for an injury to come see us!  Part of our team approach to Medical, Physical Therapy and Chiropractic Care is preventative medicine.
